We were so excited to get this game, however it will not load and run properly. The tech support staff at Infogrames has been very helpful, but to no avail. I would not recommend this game to anyone.
Well at least this game is a lot better than the first edition, but that's not really asking too much. The game has 3 stages: challenges, alliance making, and tribal council. The challenges can be fun for a little while but if you play the game multiple times you'll be playing the same games over and over and eventually you win every challenge when you're playing the computer. The alliance making is also fun the first few times you play it as you have to use a little bit of strategy to figure out who you should allign with and who you should vote out. After a while it becomes clear that a lot of this is mostly luck, and frequently the computer players won't ally with anybody even if it will save themselves from being voted out. Also you can only be in one alliance at a time The tribal council is pretty awful. First you go to vote, and if you're in an alliance it will remind you who you're supposed to vote out, but you can still vote out anybody you like. After you vote Jeff reads off the names, which is always in order (example - if the final vote is Colby 2, Jerri 3, Tina 2 the votes will be read Colby, Colby, Tina, Tina, Jerri, Jerri, Jerri). I'm not sure why they couldn't have programmed something different. Even a random order would be more suspensful. There are some other glitches where a survivor will vote for themselves. To sum up, the game is pretty fun the first few times around and the most fun when you're playing in multiplayer mode with other people. However, there are too many glitches in the programming and not enough attention to detail.
I know, some of you are asking - way waste ... bucks for another cheesy Survivor PC Game. Personally, I'll buy it no matter what the cost is - but I'll definately question how well its completed and if I'll buy a 3rd one of it's released! The original game literally [stunk]. There were good things, but the challenges were repetitive (if I don one more bow and arrow challenge I'll scream) and the questions were done far to often! We need more fun and more things to do! Also, the intellegance of the characters were awful! I mean, I don't know how many times the whole tribe was saying "I'm going to vote off Kimmi" and they turned around and everyone voted for Michael. The intelegance of their minds is awful. If this game is worse than the original - I think infogrames can destroy their contract with CBS for good. As Survivor fans, we want more sound, and feeling to the game - we want the real thing, as close as any of us will ever get. So, infogrames - i hope you read this, and take your time on the game. I would rather play a great game, than play another one of the [junk] items you sold before!
I got this game and when I tell it is SO amazing. There is way more strategy involved thank many youtube reviews give the game. Each reward challenge boosts your skills w/ the tribe, so if you win a reward, your skills go up and people will start to like you. The more you lose, one by one someone will dislike you and you'll become a sloppy annoying person on the tribe. The game is always changing that way.. one day your in majority controlling the tribal because everyone loves you, next episode you can tribe switch, half of the tribe doesn't know you, you fail at reward, and then you have only like 3 people favorable of you and the rest aren't and if you don't make deals with the RIGHT people you can get voted off :).
Theres always a way to escape elimination. You have to check how EVERYONE feels about everyone including yourself. Say Tom and Alicia are favorable of you, its smart to NOT vote them off, and try to vote out 2 people that aren't favorable of them or you that a lot of others don't like and that person is most likely to go home if you make deals to get them voted out. But what sucks is that if there is someone that everyone on tribe is favorable of no one wants to vote them off and the only way to get them off is to rely on reward to raise your skills so people will be more likely to vote with you :|.
There is only 1 con to me about this game and taht is at tribal council how that there is no real tie :|. In survivor you can't vote yourself.. but if you make the votes an obvious tie the computer makes someone vote themselves to force someone to go home instead of picking a rock which would be more interesting -_-.
I wish there could be a 2012 version of this game with more recent seasons. But overall, the challenges are FUN because most of the puzzles and games have more than one version to play it so it always changes and its extremly fun, the game is LONG and you always have to THINK like real survivor. I reccomend this to any hardcore survivor fans out there! Its amazing.
